The Marauder's Map
I retrieved this map from the google images search engine, from the following website: http://www.tattoodonkey.com/pics/a/n/antony-tattoo-harry-potter-map-of-hogwarts-o-.-tattoodonkey.com.jpg. If you are familiar with Harry Potter, you will recognize this as the Marauder's Map, created by JK Rowling. This is the map that is seen in the movie renditions of her books. This map not only presents the stationary components of Hogwarts School, such as classrooms and hallways. It allows the holder of the map to see who is actually walking by and through these locations. This is definitely a convenient tool if you're up to something mischievous-- you wouldn't want to run into the evil Professor Snape by walking down the wrong hallway!
Map of St. Malo
This is a map I found of St. Malo in France, which I found from the website planetware.com at the following URL: http://www.planetware.com/i/map/F/st-malo-map.jpg. I find this region of France to be almost as mystifying as the make-believe setting of Hogwarts School. This map not only points out the rues and plages that shape the region, but it also signifies the major landmarks of the region, such as the unforgettable Place Chateau-briand and Palais de Justice (you can also refer to the right to see the other major locations of the region). I find the presentation of the map to be very aesthetically pleasing as well. It's enough to make me want to go back!
Map of UCLA
And drum roll please... It's UCLA! I retrieved this map from ucla.edu (http://home.physics.ucla.edu/calendar/conferences/cmpd/images/map_ucla_2008_lg.png ). This map is not nearly as colorful (or inventive) as the previous two maps, but it is definitely the most user-friendly for someone who is directionally-challenged (like me!). This map gives us a bird's-eye-view of the campus and presents the layout of buildings and streets. It allows us to reference buildings directionally (North, South, East and West), and with relation to other locations on campus. This map is very convenient for someone who has to run to and from class on a regular basis (try running from the geology building to public affairs in ten minutes! It's possible, if you know the most direct route!).
